Parcels that start their trip in China

Every dress sold on gorgetly.com is packed and sent out by our fulfillment partner in China, and each parcel crosses into the United States before a US carrier makes the last delivery. The starting country matters because it is the reason delivery takes 14-18 business days, which is longer than for a parcel that stays inside the US from start to finish.

Import duties that we pay before delivery

US import duties and customs fees on each parcel are paid by us, through our partner, before the parcel reaches you, so no carrier will ask you for money at the door. We settle them upstream so that the order total you see at checkout is the whole cost of the dress and its delivery.

A shipping charge that stops at $99.00

An order with a merchandise subtotal under $99.00 pays a flat $7.90 for shipping, and an order at $99.00 or more gets free shipping, whatever the number of dresses or the state it goes to. A Women’s Button Front Tiered Shirt Dress in Wine Red at $25.99 comes to $33.89 with shipping, while a Women’s Cable Knit Pencil Sweater Dress in White at $47.99, a Women’s Long Sleeve Surplice Mini Dress in Navy at $38.99 and a Women’s Printed Short Sleeve Wrap Mini Dress in Black at $29.99 add up to $116.97 and ship free.

The subtotal that decides the charge

The $99.00 line is compared with the merchandise subtotal, which is the sum of the dress prices because no discount codes are running and no sales tax is added. A Women’s Striped Loose Knit Long Sweater Dress in Apricot and Black at $63.99 with a Women’s Belted Cotton Linen Maxi Shirt Dress in Blue at $34.99 comes to $98.98, which is $1.02 short of the line, so that cart pays $7.90 and the order total is $106.88. Checkout applies the line by itself and shows the charge on its own row before you pay, which is why the help desk cannot waive it by hand.

The 5:30 p.m. Eastern deadline that closes each order day

An order paid by 5:30 p.m. Eastern on a business day counts as that day’s order. Payment after that time, or at any point on a Saturday, a Sunday or a federal holiday, moves the order to the next business day. Weekdays count as business days unless they are US federal holidays. An order paid at 6:40 p.m. Eastern on Friday, October 16, 2026 counts from Monday, October 19, and an order placed on Sunday, October 11, 2026 counts from Tuesday, October 13, because Columbus Day on Monday, October 12 is a federal holiday. The deadline exists because the day’s orders go to our partner in one batch at 5:30 p.m. Eastern.

The 2-3 business days that the partner uses to pack

Packing takes 2-3 business days, counted from the business day after the order counts, and in that time the partner picks the dress in the size and color you chose and packs it. An order paid at 2:10 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 goes out between Thursday, October 15 and Friday, October 16.

The 12-15 business days that a parcel spends in transit

Transit takes 12-15 business days from the day the parcel is sent out, and that span covers the flight from China, US customs clearance and the last leg with a US carrier. Customs inspections, which nobody can book in advance, are the main reason the range is 4 business days wide.

A door-to-door total that comes to 14-18 business days

In total, packing and transit take 14-18 business days from the day the order counts: 2 plus 12 at the fast end and 3 plus 15 at the slow end. The order paid on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 arrives between Monday, November 2 and Friday, November 6, 2026, and an order paid on Monday, November 16 arrives between Monday, December 7 and Friday, December 11, because Thanksgiving on November 26 is not a business day.

Holidays that pause the count

Two calendars affect a delivery date. US federal holidays never count as business days, and the next ones are Columbus Day on October 12, Veterans Day on November 11, Thanksgiving on November 26 and Christmas on December 25, 2026, then New Year’s Day on January 1, Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 18 and Presidents’ Day on February 15, 2027 (the full list is on opm.gov). Our partner’s warehouse in China also closes for China’s public holidays, and the two long closures are the National Day week that opens October and the Spring Festival around Chinese New Year, which falls on Saturday, February 6, 2027. An order placed during a closure is packed when the warehouse reopens, and its 2-3 business days start then.

The Christmas order date that still makes December 23

A dress needed for Christmas Eve should be ordered by 5:30 p.m. Eastern on Friday, November 27, 2026, because at the slow end of 18 business days that order arrives on Wednesday, December 23, 2026. A later order can still arrive in time at the fast end of the range, but we cannot promise it, and this section will be removed on December 26, 2026.

States where we deliver

Parcels go to street addresses anywhere in the lower 48 states and in Washington, DC. Parcels to Alaska, Hawaii and the territories travel a different and longer route, so the 14-18 business days would not hold there.

Addresses that our route does not reach

Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the other territories do not appear among the shipping options at checkout. PO Boxes and military APO, FPO and DPO addresses cannot be used either, because the carrier on the last leg delivers to street addresses only. Checkout cannot catch a PO Box typed into an address line, so if one gets through we email you within 1 business day to ask for a street address, and without one 2 business days later the order is cancelled and the whole payment goes back to you.

Carriers that move the parcel

Our partner books the cross-border service, and a US carrier, named in the shipping confirmation email, makes the delivery inside the United States. You cannot pick the carrier or pay for a faster service, because every Gorgetly parcel travels on the same cross-border route.

A tracking number that comes by email

The shipping confirmation email goes out on the day the partner sends out your parcel, and it holds the carrier name and a tracking number that also works on our Order Tracking page. The first scan can take up to 4 business days to show online, because cross-border parcels are often scanned for the first time at a consolidation hub and not at the warehouse.

Orders that arrive in more than one parcel

Two dresses in one order may travel as two parcels, and each parcel then has a tracking number of its own while the shipping charge stays the same. This happens when the dresses in one order are packed on different days within the 2-3 business days.

Changes that are still possible before the deadline

You can change the delivery address or cancel the order until it goes to our partner, which happens at 5:30 p.m. Eastern on the day the order counts; an order paid after 5:30 p.m. Eastern stays open to changes until 5:30 p.m. Eastern on the next business day. To make a change:

  1. Email contact@gorgetly.com with the order reference in the subject line.
  2. Write the new address in full, or write the word cancel.
  3. Keep the reply, which confirms the change and the time it was made.

Cancelling returns the whole payment within 2 business days. Once the batch has gone to the partner the address can no longer be changed, although the dress can still be sent back after it arrives.

Sales tax that checkout does not add

Checkout does not add a sales tax line, so the order total is the price of the dresses plus the shipping charge, if there is one. If that changes, this page and checkout will change on the same day.

Sizes that sell out after payment

If a size sells out between your payment and packing, we write to you within 1 business day and offer three options: a new date, another size of the same dress, or your money back in full within 2 business days. We ask before doing anything, because a dress in another size is not the dress you ordered.

A send-out date that slips past 3 business days

If the partner cannot send out your parcel within 3 business days of the order counting, we email you before that deadline with a new date, and you decide whether to wait or to cancel and get the whole payment back within 2 business days. That decision is yours under the Mail, Internet, or Telephone Order Merchandise Rule of the Federal Trade Commission, which applies whenever a stated shipping date slips.

Parcels that show delivered but cannot be found

When tracking says delivered and there is no parcel:

  1. Check the porch, the mailbox, any parcel locker and the building’s mailroom, and ask the neighbors.
  2. Wait one more business day, since a carrier sometimes scans a parcel as delivered before the driver reaches the door.
  3. Write to contact@gorgetly.com, quoting the order reference, no later than 21 days after the delivered scan.

A claim then goes to the carrier, and you hear our decision within 2 business days of your email. Separately, if tracking shows no new scan for 10 business days at any point, write to us and the carrier is asked for a trace; if the parcel is not found 8 business days after the trace opens, you choose between a replacement and a full refund.

Damage that happened on the way

Report a damaged parcel, a defective dress or the wrong dress within 21 days of delivery, with photos of the dress, its size label and the shipping label on the parcel. Once the photos are in, we answer within 2 business days with a replacement or a refund, you usually keep the dress, and the Refund and Returns Policy has the details.

Decisions that take 2 business days

For every shipping problem on this page, we decide what happens no later than 2 business days after the details we asked for reach us, and the decision email names the next step and its date. A fixed number lets you plan around a late or missing dress.

Extra fees that never appear on the bill

No order carries a handling fee, a packing fee, an insurance add-on or a customs charge. The shipping line reads $7.90 or $0.00, and nothing else is added to it.

Delays that nobody can schedule

Bad weather, a backlog at the carrier, a customs inspection or a closed airport can push transit beyond 15 business days. When tracking shows a delay of this kind we email you, and the 10-business-day trace rule above still applies.

Returns that start on another page

How long you have, what the postage to the return facility in China costs and when the money comes back are all explained in the Refund and Returns Policy.
