Payment methods that checkout accepts
Checkout offers two options: Credit Card, which takes Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover and is processed by Stripe through the MeshCheckout payment gateway, and PayPal, which hands you over to PayPal to sign in and approve the payment. Both options take US dollars, and the order is placed only after the payment is approved.
Methods that checkout does not offer
Checkout has no wallet buttons, so Apple Pay and Google Pay cannot be used. Checks and bank transfers are not accepted, and neither is cash on delivery or cryptocurrency. Gift cards, store credit and installment plans do not exist at Gorgetly. Listing all this here saves you a trip to checkout looking for an option that is not there.
Card logos that match the real options
The payment logos in our footer show Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and PayPal, which are the same options checkout offers. If a logo and checkout ever disagree, checkout is right and we fix the logo the same day.
The moment when your card is charged
The full order total is charged to your card or PayPal account at the moment you place the order. Nothing is charged again later, so the amount in your order confirmation is the amount on your statement.
Holds that the bank releases
A declined or abandoned payment can leave a pending hold on your card for the amount you tried to pay, and the bank usually drops that hold within 3-5 business days. A hold is not a charge, so no money moves and there is nothing for us to refund.
An order total that has two lines
The order total shown before you pay is the price of the dresses plus the shipping line, which is $7.90 under $99.00 and $0.00 from $99.00. A Women’s Button Front Tiered Shirt Dress in Wine Red at $25.99 therefore comes to $33.89, and that is the amount charged.
Charges that never get added
There is no card fee, currency fee, handling fee, service fee or pre-selected add-on at checkout. The two lines above are the whole bill, which is why checkout has no box to tick or untick before payment.
A sales tax line that checkout leaves out
Checkout does not add sales tax, which matches the Shipping Policy. If that changes, both pages and checkout will change on the same day, before any order is charged the new way.
Prices that are in US dollars
Every price on gorgetly.com is in US dollars, and each dress costs the same in every size it comes in. A Women’s Puff Sleeve Belted Denim Shirt Dress in Blue is $62.99 in S, M, L and XL alike.
A billing address that can sit outside the US
Your card can be issued in any country and your billing address can be outside the United States, as long as the dress is delivered inside our area, which is the lower 48 states and Washington, DC. The billing address only has to match the one your bank holds, because the bank checks it before approving the payment.
Orders that need a second look
Some orders are held for a fraud check before they go to our partner. When that happens:
- We email you within 1 business day and say what we need, usually a confirmation of the billing address.
- You reply to that email.
- If no reply arrives within 2 business days, the order is cancelled and refunded in full.
The confirmation email that arrives after checkout
The order confirmation email is sent within minutes of payment and shows the order reference, the dresses, the sizes, the shipping line and the total. If it has not arrived within an hour, check the spam folder and then write to the help desk, because a missing email can mean a mistyped address.
Payments that fail or get declined
When a payment fails or is declined, no order exists and nothing is charged. You can try the same method again, switch to the other option, or ask your bank why it declined, since only the bank can see its reason.
Card numbers that never touch our server
Card details are typed into a secure payment field that MeshCheckout, our payment gateway, loads from its own server and passes to Stripe, or into PayPal’s pages, so the full card number never reaches our website or our help desk. The payment processors handle card data under the PCI DSS rules that apply to them, and we never ask for a card number by email or phone.
Price errors that we can correct
If a price is clearly wrong, for example a Women’s Puff Sleeve Belted Denim Shirt Dress in Blue listed at $6.29 instead of $62.99, we email you within 1 business day and offer two choices: pay the correct price, or cancel with a full refund. We never take a higher amount without your written yes.
Discount codes that the store does not run
There are no Gorgetly discount codes, and checkout has no field to enter one. A code found on another website does not belong to us, so it cannot be applied.
Chargebacks that an email can prevent
If a charge looks wrong, email contact@gorgetly.com with the amount and the date before asking your bank to reverse it. We answer within 1 business day and refund a charge that is our mistake within 2 business days, while a bank dispute usually takes weeks and freezes the money in between.
The statement name that your bank shows
The name next to the charge on your statement is set by the payment processor and may not read Gorgetly. To recognize the charge, look at your order confirmation email: the amount and the date there match the statement.
Payment data that the Privacy Policy covers
What we keep from each payment, who processes it and for how long is explained in the Privacy Policy.
